Tall windows, old floorboards.
A living room and a bedroom in a period apartment. Wall panelling, tall sash windows with heavy curtains, painted floorboards and cast iron radiators set the tone; mid-century sideboards and a marble coffee table bring it up to date.
The scene works as wide establishing shots and as close-ups: the chess set, the bedding and the upholstery all hold up at short range.
